Understanding how to read and use Financial Statements to manage cash flows

This workshop is designed to show the entrepreneur, managers, professionals, bookkeepers and other uses of financial statements, how to read and use key data from the financial statements, to understand how a business manages its profitability and cash flow.

The one day workshop uses the three main statements, Income Statement, Statement of Financial Position and Cash Flow Statement, to manage the cash flow cycle from purchases to banking the cash.

We call this the two step tango!

By the end of the workshop, candidates will be able to efficiently read the main financial statements, and using a number of key figures, develop a story line of the effectiveness of the business in generating sales revenue through to cash flow.

Key to this workshop is the proprietary integrated financial health analysis workbook, which will generate the information required to read the Financials. You will be able to read any financial statement published after completing this workshop with surprising ease.

Included in the workshop, are the following:

  • Notes detailing the material covered during the workshop
  • Excel integrated Financial Health Analysis Workbook
  • Email Access to the presenter for assistance with the workbook or other related questions

Your presenter, Gavin Beretta, has over 30 years experience (local and international) in both medium and large organizations, in which he provided financial leadership to various management teams and served on a number of boards.

With strong experience in company valuations and operational finance, Gavin now provides financial and taxation services to sme’s and professionals nationally, with operations in both Johannesburg and Cape Town.

He is a member of CSSA (Chartered Secretaries Southern Africa), SAIT (South African Institute of Tax Practitioners) and a SAIPA (South African Institute of Professional Accountants) licensed Independent Review Practitioner.

Gavin is also a member of the prestigious Institute of Market Technicians, an Association of professionals, based in the USA which provides technical analysis on equity pricing and trends and has an association with the ASA (American Society of Appraisers), based in the USA, which provides input and guidance on professional business valuations.
